Saudi Arabia Abha Tilapia RAS Aquaculture Project

Core Information of the Project

Project Name
: Abha Tilapia Hatchery, Fry Rearing and Commercial Fish Farming Project, Saudi Arabia

Implementation Period :
Construction commenced in July 2024

Project Location :
Abha, Saudi Arabia

Investment Scale
: Over 30 million

Environmental Challenges :
Saudi Arabia faces water scarcity. The local temperature can reach up to 45°C, imposing high requirements on equipment for high temperature resistance and anti-corrosion performance.

Major Achievements We Have Made:

Farming Scale :A recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) farm of over 5,000 cubic meters has been built in the desert, with Phase I covering 2,500 cubic meters. The farm is divided into hatching area, fry rearing area and grow-out area to realize full-cycle aquaculture.
Outstanding Production Capacity :The site is designed for an annual output of 450 tons of high-quality tilapia.
Design Advantages: The RAS farm features rational layout, energy efficiency and high temperature resistance. Complete supporting facilities are equipped to improve overall economic benefits.

Core Advantages of RAS System:

Region-leading Design: It deeply integrates cutting-edge global recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) technologies and features customized system development tailored to Saudi Arabia’s local climate and water source characteristics. The project has obtained official recognition and support from the Abha Fisheries Department.
Full-cycle Breeding Supporting Facilities:
The farm is scientifically divided into three functional zones: hatchery, fry rearing and grow-out. Each zone is equipped with dedicated aquaculture equipment and SCADA IoT intelligent control system, forming a fully controllable breeding environment covering the whole process from fry stocking to finished fish harvesting, which delivers solid guarantees for the healthy growth of tilapia across all development phases.
Practicing the philosophy of sustainable development:
The system achieves a water recycling rate exceeding 95%, drastically cutting water consumption and pollutant emissions and fully aligning with Saudi Arabia’s sustainable development vision.

Core Value System:

Economic Benefits: Upon operation, the project will drive the development of local related industries and generate considerable economic returns.

Social Benefits:
It provides abundant employment opportunities, cultivates local aquaculture technicians and enhances regional fishery competitiveness.

Market Value: It fills the gap in Saudi Arabia s high-end tilapia market, stabilizes local supply and lowers reliance on imports.

Customer Feedback:

Under the challenging conditions of scarce water resources in Saudi Arabia, extreme temperatures of up to 45°C, and high requirements for equipment heat resistance and corrosion protection, the project successfully established a recirculating aquaculture system that is not constrained by natural environmental conditions. The project delivers strong economic benefits and carries significant social value.
